What Would You Do If You Had Unlimited Cosmic Power?

That question woke me at 5:30 this morning.

It’s also a question I ask everyone who takes the Journey to Powerful Presence with me. You’d be amazed at the answers I’ve gotten over the last year and how richly each person can describe who they’d be and what they’d do if they had it. It’s the one question that leads the travelers on this journey to accomplish more than they ever thought possible.

The first time you hear the question, it seems rhetorical. Here’s the way your brain hears it: not that you really do have it, just what if you did? The possibility that it’s rhetorical gets that question past the part of your brain that filters out anything you’ve deemed  ridiculous. Asking yourself “what if you did?” allows you to imagine ~ and that allows you to access the part of your brain that’s usually outside of your daily awareness.

Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it” and look how that turned out.

Denis Waitley said, “It’s not who you are the holds you back, it’s who you think you’re not.” That statement still packs the same wallop for me that it did when I first heard it in 1984. What holds most of us back is our denial of the Unlimited Cosmic Power that is at our fingertips, that we were born with and forgot. The part of our brain that filters out what is commonly called “ridiculous” takes care of that; we filter out all of the evidence that’s right in front of our noses and believe that it’s the truth.

One of the most useful sayings in the world of Twelve Step Programs is “If you spot it, you got it.” It means if you see a quality you like or admire in someone, it’s only because you have it yourself. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t recognize it. When you see others accomplishing anything, the part of you that has the capacity to do the same admires them.

So why not ask yourself today, “What would you do if you had Unlimited Cosmic Power”? Act on your answer and see what happens!
