Reinvent Your Communication Strategies

“In organizations, real power and energy is generated through relationships. The patterns of relationships and the capacities to form them are more important than tasks, functions, roles, and positions.”

Margaret Wheatley

Communication is a core leadership skill that has a significant impact on the daily experience of your team. COVID19 has capsized the ways we used to communicate with our teams when we were co-located. Now we have to reinvent the ways we stay connected and perform on the job.

What if you could discover some Simple Shifts  that would make it easier and more sustainable to engage your team—every day?

These courses are designed to help you do that. Each course can be presented in a small (6 to 8 people) or large (10 to 20 people) group format. Contact Us to see how these courses can unite your team.

All courses are:

  • Delivered online, using interactive technology, in 2-hour segments, on a timeline that works for you and your team
  • Learner-focused and performance-based
  • Designed with breakout sessions for small group interaction
  • Supplemented with handouts as well as pre- and post-course materials for optimal performance, and ultimately, measurable ROI

This 12-hour course sets the foundation for communication success by using the team or group’s unique challenges as its context—giving participants straightforward and sustainable strategies for working with anyone, anywhere, anytime.

Participants will discover how to recognize four universal communication distinctions—including how our perceptions affect us—so they can identify innate communication preferences in themselves as well as in others.

Building on a newfound awareness of their own as well as other’s communication strengths and challenges, participants will increase their skill at engaging and collaborating with anyone—despite individual differences—while fostering increased buy-in within the team or organization.

This 16-hour course creates the open dialogue necessary to navigate through the inevitable workplace conflict—both within and outside of the team—in order to increase team performance and results. Practicing cutting-edge conversation strategies in real-time exercises allows team members to deepen their ability to confidently address conflict and engage with colleagues, direct reports, prospects and clients in positive ways that generate measurable results.

This 16-hour course addresses the issues you face when you’re a part of a diverse or global team. Team members will deepen their cultural fluency—their ability to understand the norms, perspectives, cultural contexts and conversational cues of anyone whose culture differs from theirs, so they can respond in ways that contribute to effective conversation and collaboration.

This course is built to be adapted to address a variety of diversity issues that can be included in culture, including differences across generations, sexual orientation, ethnicity and gender. The practical, experiential and sustainable strategies in this course are applicable whether you’re communicating with a diverse group of clients or colleagues, traveling globally or simply in conference calls with a team or group of multi-cultural colleagues.

This 12-hour course will provide the team with a breakthrough strategy to address business performance problems with a sustainable process to achieve organizational objectives. This course capitalizes on Edward De Bono’s idea that “Sometimes the situation is only a problem because it is looked at a certain way. Looked at another way, the right course of action may be so obvious that the problem no longer exists.”

Using cutting-edge reinvention strategies the team will discover how to shift from the usual lengthy “problem-focused” discussions—that waste time and create unnecessary conflict—to a more visual and “outcome-focused” structure that helps them to map out their business objective, the obstacle they face (the “problem”) and the contribution required by each member—in a fraction of the time.

In the process they will easily see what is holding them back, what strategies will move them forward, and the specific action steps they need to take to accomplish their objective.

This 12-hour course is designed for leaders and teams who need to negotiate, whether it’s within the team for work projects, with outside suppliers or vendors, with management or with other organizations.

Based on the research-backed negotiation strategy of The Harvard Negotiation Project, this course integrates real-world application with our signature Simple Shifts to provide you and your team with a unique blueprint for maneuvering through the stages of any negotiation: as you prepare for it, engage in it, complete it and move forward with agreement.

In the second half of the course, the you will have the opportunity use a practice scenario—based on your unique  circumstances—using what you have learned in class to identify and address your likely barriers to success as you negotiate with each other in structured breakout sessions.

The greatest learning takes place in the debrief, when you and your team identify what worked, what didn’t and WHY. This allows you to build a personalized action plan for future negotiating based on your experience in a real-time negotiation.

This 8-hour course is designed for anyone who is ready to discover the one strategy that eliminates speaking anxiety for good.

The higher up in the organization a leader goes, the greater the likelihood that she or he will need to be comfortable—and skilled—at speaking in front of groups, both large and small. With the arrival of COVID-19, speakers must now reinvent their capacity to engage an online audience who they may not be able to see.

This course demystifies the reason that many otherwise skilled leaders find speaking so challenging, which is the secret that all great speakers know: speaking is never about the speaker—it is always about the speaker’s ability to connect with their audience, even online.

In the process, participants will discover how to feel as comfortable and confident speaking in front of any audience—even online—as they are in conversation with their family and friends. Since 1999, 100% of the participants in this course (formerly called PowerSpeak) have transformed their speaking anxiety into audience connection and discovered their Signature Speaking Strengths.

Yes! I want to schedule a complimentary discovery session with Maia.

“Maia has an immediacy and efficiency that is quite remarkable. From a timeline of just about two months she created and presented a tailored two-day training program for seasoned instructors. Her output was accurate, insightful and effective. Maia crosses the line of ‘great trainer’ and ‘great person’ — which doesn’t happen too much in my experience of training other trainers. While this training was a few years ago I still hear from those trained that they learned a great deal from the class – even from those who truly did not want to be in attendance.”
